We have come to the close of the SII term and elections will be held on Thursday 8 July 2010 to elect new Office Bearers to the positions of President and Vice President plus 3 Council Members. The current Officers are serious about leadership renewal and therefore both Chan Hwee Seng and I will be stepping down as Vice President and President respectively. New capable leaderships have been found to replace us and I am sure you will be pleased with the new line up for the new term of office.

We are now into April 2010 and the future looks great with Life. Insurers reporting growth,
following a year of recovery from the economic crisis. Non-life business reported a 1.6%
increase. in gross premium income of $2.92b, accompanied by better underwriting profit of
$189.7m (an increase of 273% from Year 2008). We believe our insurance industry is well positioned to maintain growth and profitability this year.
Our Institute has recently renewed its lease at #04-04 Cecil House for a further 2-year period. I do encourage Training Managers to.make use of our Conference Room facilities for their training needs. Contact Johnson Lee at 8441 4799 for more details.

We are now into March 2010. There is much optimism in the air with promise of
sustained economic recovery fueled by our Government's pro-active measures to
provide fiscal incentives to boost productivity and raise skills through training.
2010 marks the year of the Golden Tiger and let us draw on the traits of the Tiger to
be resilient and brave in adversity and to seize opportunities when they occur.
Therefore, I am looking forward for more support from CEOs of companies to

How time flies! We are almost upon December and soon it will be Christmas; a time for celebrating the birth of Christ for Christians and a time of merry making and festivities for the rest.
On behalf of our Council, may I take this opportunity to say a big " Thank You" to everyone for your support given in 2009. The Council also takes the opportunity to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and A Healthy and Happy New Year ahead.

WOW! In a short span of 2 months, we have experienced the Good
Tidings of Christmas, welcomed the New Year of 2009 and the brand
new Lunar Year of the OX! With all the feasting and joyous giving,
it's time to get down to serious work and charge ahead so that
2009 becomes another feather in our hat.
With all the negativity that surrounds 2009, all's not lost. There
are opportunities even in bad times. We, in SII, hold strong our
motto TOWARDS PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE and this will be evidenced in
the many activities that have been planned for 2009. We want to
ensure that all professionals in the insurance and financial
industry are better geared and armoured to fight a winning battle ahead. We count
on all members to help achieve this goal... TOWARDS PROFESSIONAL

It's been said many times over... count your blessings for the year
in passing and look forward to another bountiful year ahead!
Singapore Insurance has achieved another great year, with 2 major
conferences held "A Focus on Specialty Liability and Casualty" and "Consumer
Protection (Fair Trading) Act" well attended by professionals not only
from the insurance industry but the financial services industry as
well. These conferences also saw a list of renowned speakers from
the insurance and financial services industry and the LAW fraternity
as well; each a professional in their own field. World economists
have predicted a bleak outlook for the coming 2009 but Singapore
Insurance Institute is positive it will record
another exciting year with the activities lined up. Keep an open-eye
for the details! On behalf of the council in Singapore Insurance Institute,
I take this opportunity to THANK YOU for the support in 2008
and look forward to your continuous support for 2009 and the years to
come. We also want to wish you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a
wonderful start to a NEW YEAR ahead!

We've now reached the second half of the Year of the Rat, 2008. We
should all give ourselves a pat on our backs "Well Done", we've
survived the tsunami of change in the first half of 2008. With this
issue, SII will move itself and its members into a whole new
spectrum for the term 2008-2009. New council members brings with it
new and fresh ideas, propelling the institute to a new height. SII
Members, we need your inputs too; write to us if you have ideas, for
the Socials or Professionals. Lets all put a
TOAST to our New Council and the revolution that will follow!

With this bulletin, we are reminded that the first half of 2008 will be ending very soon. This first half
has brought a handful of "first" for SII, with the introduction of this bulletin taking the lead in
moving us deeper into the technology age and 1 step closer to "going green" saving the trees.
The conference has also been put to good use with professionals in the industry renting it for
training purposes. The SII New Year Lunch was another first try for SII, giving our activities a fresh
look. With the end of June, it is now time for the next big change for SII, the 34th AGM. Mark your
calendars for 26 June 2008, Thursday for 5.30pm @ Singapore Recreation Club Boardroom, Level

April was an important calendar month for SII. 15 April 2008 was marked for SII Golf Day 2008. This
year's golf event @ Tanah Merah Country Club's beautiful Garden Course was a roaring success
with 100% turnout. Unfortunately none of the 3 cars were claimed for hole-in-one prizes. Three
CHEERS for all the sponsors, participants, committee members and all who lent a helping hand!

It has been a month since SII launched its 1 Minute Bulletin. We hope you have enjoyed the
issue. SII has experienced a handful of FIRSTs since the beginning of 2008 and the list looks set to
be expanded; AON has conducted 2 training sessions in SIIs conference room to much success.
In the next 2 months, we have SII Golf Day lined up for Tuesday 15, April @ TMCC's Garden
Course. Not forgetting the Bowling League that has been revived and the all-time favorite SII
Happy Hour. Membership renewal for 2008 has also seen good numbers. So as not to miss out on
