Membership Categories
STUDENT
Any person who is pursuing examinations approved by the Institute (which the Council deems suitable and necessary) may be admitted by the Council as a Student Member.
Student members must upgrade their membership to the relevant categories upon graduation, OTHERWISE membership will be terminated.
Pursuing a Diploma in Insurance and Risk Management
(Nanyang Polytechnic)
Pursuing a foreign insurance examination (eg. ACII,
ANZII) proctored by the Singapore Insurance Institute.
ORDINARY
Ordinary Membership is open to persons who are graduates of institutions of higher learning or holders of other professional non-insurance qualifications approved by the Council and who have been engaged in the insurance industry for not fewer than 2 years.
Diploma of any discipline, awarded by a polytechnic in
Singapore (Ngee Ann, Singapore, Temasek, Nanyang, Republic.)
Bachelors degree of any discipline, awarded by a
university in Singapore or by a foreign university.
Masters degree of any discipline, awarded by a
university in Singapore or by a foreign university.
Affiliate, Australian and New Zealand Institute of
Insurance and Finance (ANZII (Aff))
Diploma in General Insurance, Singapore College
of Insurance
Diploma in Life Insurance, Singapore College
of Insurance
Non-Insurance Professional Qualifications accepted include:
Fellow, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
(FCCA)
Fellow, Institute of Chartered Secretaries
&
Administrators (FICSA)
Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants
in England
& Wales (FCA)
Professional Engineers registered with the Professional
Engineers Board, Singapore or any other statutory
boards in the Republic of Singapore
AFFILIATE
Affiliate Membership is open to persons who possess such relevant insurance, financial services or professional qualifications approved by the Council and have been continuously engaged in the insurance or financial services industry for at least five years. Affiliate members of SII can use the designatory letters “AFF
SII”.
Professionals: Lawyers, Accountants, Engineers, etc and those with insurance related qualifications that do not qualify for Associate membership such as FLMI, DGI, DLI, Polytechnic Diploma, or other Degrees or Tertiary Qualifications, and other qualifications deemed by the Council to be at least at an equivalent standard.
ASSOCIATE
Associate Membership is open to persons who hold the requisite professional insurance qualification. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Council may at its discretion admit as an Associate any person who, in the opinion of the Council, is qualified to hold such a status by virtue of his experience and/or his position in the insurance industry and/or his contributions to the insurance industry or the Institute. Associate members of SII can use the designatory letters
"A.S.I.I.".

Senior Associate, Australian New Zealand Institute of
Insurance & Finance (Senior ANZIIF)
Associate, Society of Actuaries (ASA)
Associate, Institute of Actuaries (AIA)
Associate, Faculty of Actuaries (AFA)

Member, Association of Average Adjusters (AAA)

FELLOW
Fellowship is open to persons who have followed such course of education and/or passed such qualifying examinations and/or satisfied such qualifying criteria as the Council may prescribe. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Council may at its discretion admit as a Fellow any person who, in the opinion of the Council, is qualified to hold such a status by virtue of his experience and/or his position in the insurance industry and/or his contributions to the insurance industry or the Institute. Fellow members of SII can use the designatory letters
"F.S.I.I.".

HONORARY FELLOW
Honorary Fellowship may be conferred by the Council to any professionally qualified person who has, in the opinion of the Council, distinguished himself in or made significant contributions to the insurance industry or the Institute.
MEMBERS-IN-RETIREMENT
Fellows, Associates and Ordinary Members who are no longer in active employment shall be Members-in-Retirement. Honorary Fellows who are no longer in active employment shall retain their status.
